Zest Literary Journal

I am so lucky right now. I’ve reached the second term of my Creative Writing Masters and I’ve been presented with a really interesting Editing and Publication project. I want to tell you a little bit about it tonight and invite you to consider getting involved. You ready? Here we go…

‘Two ladies, one from Boston and one from Glasgow, get together in a creative writing class in Glasgow and….’ I know it sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. But it’s not! It’s actually the beginning of a new literary online journal. Amy Sibley paired up with Kate Alexander-Kirk, a fellow writing student to create an online literary journal as a project we’ll be working on for our course next term. In the meantime we’re starting to drum up submissions now, and the deadline for the first issue is February 1st, 2013.

Our ezine is called Zest Literary Journal and we have a website, but it’s in the very early stages of production – so don’t be dismayed if you visit and find it looking rather bare. It will be ready for the launch of our first issue on April 1st 2013! Please visit us at www.zestlit.com

The themes for the inaugural issue are: Beginnings, Newness, Fresh Starts, Originality, Conception, Firsts… We’re looking to keep this as open as possible to allow for some very creative interpretations.

Genres accepted include:

Micro-fiction
Flash-fiction
Short Stories
Creative Non-fiction
Poetry
Photography
Art Work

Is there anything missing from the list that you’d like to contribute? Drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do. edzestlit@gmail.com

We can’t wait to read you!

Amy and Kate

Yep. That’s our little welcome note to what we hope will be a lively, insightful ezine. We’ve already had a number of really wonderful submissions and we can’t wait to share these artists’ work with you!

I hope you’ll support this little venture of ours.
